But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. In this blog post, I’m going to share with you some of my best tips and tricks for generating new ideas for songs so by the time you finish reading this, you’ll have plenty of new ideas to work with – so let’s get started!
What are you trying to accomplish with your song?
There's no one answer to this question - it's different for every musician. But in general, musicians want their songs to connect with listeners and make them feel something. Whether it's happiness, sadness, anger, or any other emotion, musicians hope their songs will resonate with people and create a connection.
Of course, making a song that people like is only part of the equation. Musicians also want their songs to be successful commercially. To achieve this, they need to get their songs played on the radio, streamed on Spotify, and purchased on iTunes. In other words, they need people to hear their songs.
There's no surefire formula for success, but if you make music that you're passionate about and that you believe in, you're already halfway there.
Who is your audience?
Before you start writing a song, it's important to think about who your audience is. This will help you determine the style, tone, and subject matter of your song. Are you writing for a specific audience or for the general public? If you're writing for a specific audience, who are they and what do they like to listen to?
Once you know your audience, you can start writing a song that appeals to them. Keep your audience in mind throughout the songwriting process, and you'll be able to create a song that they'll love.
Choose your song format
Now that you've recorded your song, it's time to give it some finishing touches. This is where the art of songwriting really comes into play. How you format your song can make a big difference in how it sounds and how well it is received by your audience. Here are a few tips on how to format your song:
- Make sure your song is the right length. It should be long enough to tell your story, but not so long that it loses its impact.
- Pay attention to the structure of your song. Where do the verses and chorus fall? Is there a bridge or a breakdown?
- Lyrics are important, but don't forget about the melody. A good melody will make your song more memorable and catchy.

Next you must focus on your audience and the emotional journey you want them to take with you. Then you want to format or structure the song to fit the right timing, tempo, melody, etc. to create something memorable and unique. And lastly you choose how you want to record your final masterpiece! Create something wonderful!
