Can you believe it's Day 10 already? Man does time fly! Well hopefully in this ten day boot camp you learned something useful to get you on your way to thinking and taking your production life seriously. I hope you learned the importance of getting connected with other producers in your area, learning to use the gear you have effectively, and keeping those listening skills sharp at all times. This last post is kind of personal, but very true for most home recording producers---You must keep driving toward your idea of success! Now that may sound like a cliche, but it's not. Your success will differ from my success. Your success may be to turn your home studio into a full-on record label introducing new artists and bands in your area to the world. Your success may also be creating demo albums for songwriter's, or for your own tunes. You success could also be to build a place of solitude to simply create! Whatever your journey is, use that as your motivating factor to stay the course.
What drives me is simply sharing. I enjoy sharing my talents, time, and energy with others that are creating passionately. I've shared my home recording studio to write and produce songs and raps for friends and family, create music tracks for my school, and create humorous audio-movies for fun. If a friend needed demo work, and was short on cash, I would many times work with them to get their idea to recording. I've shared my talents in talent shows, at small banquets, at school, at church, and with family. I share because recording is my passion, and I've told many people this---If I could honestly create a nominal income from my recording passion---I would consider myself "retired". Sharing your skills is very important. You have something to offer this world, so find a way to share that with your circle of influence.
Get out of that box of creating for your self, and begin letting everyone around you know what you do. You create! This world needs more innovative creative thinkers to produce and impart the next hit songs, videos, podcasts, webinars, etc. and you could be the one to do just that. Think beyond simply yelling in the mic and making noise---Start making sense! You can make a good income with your passion, build good relations with the right connections, or find your own idea of success when you stay driven!
Hopefully there was some nugget of wisdom shared that you will use from my ten day boot camp. Get out there and make your success happen. Nothing comes easy and no one is handing out free money! You must choose to be the driven success that you want to become!
Love and Life!
